Hubcap Painting Stencils?
« on: January 08, 2019, 10:02:09 PM »
Anyone have a set of these they would be willing to loan out for a fee?

I need to repaint my hubcaps, and while I've done it before using masking tape, it's darned time consuming.  I would gladly pay a fee and cover shipping for anyone that might have a set they would be willing to loan out. I wouldn't expect to set it up until I was ready to paint, so that I could turn them around promptly.

Thanks,

Dan

Tape works best. It take more time but you get much better results.

The sl113.org group has stencils that they loan to members.   I would agree with Tom though, tape works better but takes more time.

Thanks. I have done tape in the past and been quite pleased. This time I screwed up.

I put a new blade in my razor knife before trimming out the tape. Despite cleaning everything well prior to painting, I failed to notice the razor knife blade had oil on it. Even though I cleaned everything, the tape picked up some of the oil.

This resulted in some fisheye issues on some edges, dang it. Not major, but I know they’re there. Grr.

Lesson learned.
