B Pillar Weatherstrip Installation
« on: January 04, 2019, 01:26:46 PM »
So the weatherstripping that runs on both sides of the "B" pillar, vertically top to bottom, is toast.  I have new pieces but I'm wondering if these are glued in place - they appear to be, based on inspection and gentle tugging.  There doesn't seem to be any gutter or grooves for it to go into, and the new pieces are flat on the back side, making me suspect that they're just glued in place.

Can anyone confirm/deny this?  There's nothing in the service manual about these pieces of weatherstripping.

I believe we pointed you in the right direction on my facebook page regarding this matter, but for those that weren't privy to the conversation...yes. They're glued on.  :)  There are a lot of things like this that won't ever be covered in the repair manual.  Mercedes assumed that people working on their cars would know how to do certain things by default......not very admirable of them to assume as such, but it is what it is.
